sweet corn roti

Corn or Makai is a safe and wonderful food. My baby was extremely attracted to the bright yellow color and loved the sweet taste. Sweet corns are loaded with proteins, Vitamin B, folate. They are a great source of dietary fiber and minerals. It helps in weight gain and the rich B complex present in sweet corn ar helpful in  body growth and development. The natural laxatives present in sweet corn seeds relieves constipation.

But sweet corn may be a  choking hazard. Instead of giving regular puree. I thought to prepare delicious sweet corn paratha so that my baby can enjoy the sweet taste of corns without any risk.

Sneak in Nutrition in Sweet Corn Paratha

I have prepared the sweet corn paratha dough with milk as we know  milk is filled with essential nutrients. It will also make the paratha softer. I have used garlic  as it helps to prevent  common cold and will keep the intestinal worms at bay. It is also good for baby’s heart.

The sweet corn paratha can be easily prepared in no time. You can also prepare the dough in advance and refrigerate it.

Sweet Corn Paratha Ingredients:

  • 2 cup wheat flour
  • 1 cup sweet corn (boiled)
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 5-6 nos of garlic
  • a small bunch of finely chopped coriander leaves
  • a pinch of turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tspn of cumin powder
  • 2 tspn ghee

How to make Sweet Corn Paratha

Boil the sweet corns for 10-15 minutes or pressure cook it for one to two whistles.

Allow the sweet corn to cool and then grind the boiled sweet corn and garlic into a coarse paste without adding water.

Take a mixing bowl and add 2 cups of wheat flour, sweet corn and garlic coarse paste, turmeric powder, coriander leaves, cumin powder and mix well. Now make a soft dough with the help of milk.

Coat the dough with ghee and allow it to rest for 10-15 minutes.

Once the dough is done prepare medium size balls and roll them out into a paratha. Toss the balls in dry wheat flour to avoid sticking during the rolling process.

Take the prepared parathas into hot tawa.

Cook on both sides and add a generous amount of ghee on both the sides.

Serve the sweet corn paratha with curd.
