How to incorporate more veggies into your child’s diet?

Making your child to eat vegetables without a tantrum is a challenge for every parent. There are many tips and tricks which claim to teach your kid to like and enjoy vegetables but honestly it’s not that easy and let’s face it it takes  up a lot of time.

As busy working moms, time is an expensive commodity. They are bound to tire you out by being fussy. So instead of facing a showdown use these easy ways to sneak in nutritional vegetables into your kid’s meal. If you are having a hard time with a picky eater then don’t worry, here are some amazing tips and tricky ways to make them eat vegetables without them even knowing.

Chapathi Dough
Your kid may refuse to eat all the green leafy vegetables, you can prepare a puree of blanched spinach and add into the dough. It is a simple and easy way to add a bit of color as well as nutrition into your kids color. You can also prepare beetroot chapathis similarly.

Pizza Base
Pizza is the last thing which you want to offer to your kid but switching the dough base with some vegetables is an easy way to sneak some healthy vegetables into your child’s meal.
Grate some cauliflower till it’s into breadcrumbs consistency. Take a pan and add some ghee, cook it for 10-12 minutes until all the moisture is gone.

Season it with spices of your choice. Take a bowl add cauliflower mix, 2 eggs and grated paneer and a pinch of salt. Preheat the oven at 180-degree Celsius. Line the baking tray and spread this mixture into pizza base shapes. Bake for 20-25 minutes and flip over to bake for another 7-10 minutes. Now, spread tomato or carrot puree and add toppings as per your choice.

Sauces
Kids are fond of sauces, you can prepare easy tomato sauce at home and add vegetables of your choice to it. It is better to blend them in the blender so that children cannot spot them.

You can prepare a quick sauce by frying 2 onion and 4-5 garlic pods on low heat for 5-7 minutes. Now, add roughly chopped tomatoes to it until it becomes mushy. Add 1/2 teaspoon of jaggery, 1 teaspoon of black pepper powder, and salt.

Allow the mixture to cook on low flame for 15 minutes. Blend it into a smooth sauce after it cools. You can steam the vegetables and add them into the sauce, it is better to blend the veggies if your child is picky.

Chips
A pack of store bought chips is definitely not a good option but you can always prepare yummy chips at home in a healthy way.

Peel and chop potatoes length wise and mix it with little olive oil and italian seasoning. Bake it at 180 degree Celsius for 20-25 minutes. You can also try preparing carrot and sweet potato chips.

Vegetable dosa
You can add vegetables of your choice and prepare a healthy crispy vegetable dosa for breakfast. Take 1 cup of dosa batter, add a cup of bottle gourd puree to it. Add some fennel seeds powder and grated coconut and mix well. Prepare crispy dosa and watch your kiddo enjoy it!

Cookies and Muffins
You can prepare healthy cookies dough by choosing the right vegetables. You can add sweet potato puree to a Oats cookies mix. Beetroot muffins and zucchini muffins can be prepared and the best part is your child will not be able to even guess what is hidden inside.

Omelettes
While preparing an omelet to add finely chopped spinach, grated carrot, and cauliflower to the egg mix. You can also add other vegetables of your choice.

Smoothies
Smoothies are the best way to add loads of vegetable. You can add 1 or 2 fruits of your choice, it will subside the taste of vegetables. Pumpkin banana shake and honeydew melon cucumber smoothies are yummy and it contains the goodness of both fruit and vegetable.
